If you don't have the remote, you can set a delay for the shutter to release. Find the Delay Capture in the menu.

We highly recommend getting the remote if you intend to trigger the camera from a different location most of the time. It will save you a lot of running back and forth starting and stopping the recording.
About the card, the highest we've tested is a 128GB card, but it needs to be formatted to FAT32 so that recording will be smoother. Downside is, the max file size that FAT32 can record and read is 4GB. Although that is already big, some users have a need for longer or non-stop recordings. When the 4GB filesize is reached, a new continuation file will be created. Hope this helps!
